Visakhapatnam is a coastal and port city located on the Bay of Bengal at the Northernmost tip of Andra Pradesh. Visakhapatnam is also known as Vizag, which is sometimes referred to as the “Goa of the East Coast.” Vizag is a place brimming with breathtaking beaches, laterite hillocks, and stunning landscapes. 1. Kailasagiri

Kailasagiri is a hilltop park in the city of Visakhapatnam and is a must-visit place for visitors. The park comprises 380 acres (150 ha) of land secured with flora and tropical trees. The hill, at 173 meters 568 ft, overlooking beaches, forests, and the city of Visakhapatnam. The government of Andhra Pradesh granted Kailasagiri as its “Best Tourist Spot” in 2003.

Lord Shiva Parvati statue is the major attraction in the park. The idol of Lord Shiva at the top of the hill stands tall at a height of 40 ft. The Floral watch of the park is another appealing attraction. The tourists can also enjoy the ropeway ride to move to the hills. The greenery and the spectacular views of Kailasa Giri will soothe your soul.

2. Ramakrishna Beach

Rama Krishna Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Visakhapatnam and commonly known as Rk beach. This is a spectacular long beach that gets its name from the Ramakrishna Mission ashram situated near the beach road. The beach is best known for the INS Kursura Submarine Museum and Naval Museum.

It is the ideal spot to spend some relaxing time, take sunbathe, play volleyball, water surfing, enjoy strolls across the beach, and much more. With its serene waters and cool atmosphere, the beach offers a wonderful view of mesmerizing sunrises and sunsets. But, the beach is not safe for deep-sea swimming but has plenty of other attractions and activities to keep visitors entertained.

3. INS Kurusura Submarine Museum

The INS Kurusura submarine museum is located on the RK beach is the first submarine museum in Asia and second in the world. INS Kurusura served the Indian Navy for 31 years (1969-2001) and played a vital role in a number of wars including the infamous Indo-Pak war. Later it was decommissioned on 27 February 2001 and converted into a museum.

With a length of 91.3 m (300ft.) and breadth of 7.5 m (25ft.), the INS Kurusura submarine has traveled a total distance of 1,36,100km. And, to move the submarine to the current location, it took 18 months and around 5.50 Million Indian Rupees.

This museum is a good opportunity for the general public to get a deeper insight into the world of the navy and how they spend days on end underwater. Various parts of the submarine-like the sonar room, radar room, control room, and the weapons used during the war are on display in this museum. You can hire a guide at the submarine museum who will help you to gain a lot of information about the history and activities of the submarine.

4. TU 142 Air-Craft Museum

The TU-142M long-range maritime patrol aircraft of the Indian Navy was decommissioned after his 30 years of service and placed at Visakhapatnam sea beach by converting it to a museum. It is located just opposite to the Submarine Museum and became one more major tourist attraction at RK Beach Area.

Before entering into the aircraft you can see a display of various equipment and parts of aircraft placed inside one exhibition hall. Equipment like propeller, sonobuoy, engine, survival kit, date recorder, anti-submarine missile, etc is displayed with all details.

5. Simhachalam Temple

Originally known as Varaha Lakshmi Narsimha Temple, Simhachalam Temple is an ornate shrine that holds much importance among the locals for its strong traditional values and follows a detailed prayer routine for all the days of the year. Dedicated to the Hindu community, the Simhachalam Temple offers holy and mystical vibes to the devotees of Lord Narsimha and has an exceptionally calm atmosphere to attract tourists from all around the world.

Dolphin’s Nose is a romantic gem in the Queen of hill stations located near Yarada Beach. This wonderful place got its name from the distinctive shape of the hillock extending into the sea. 9. Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary

The Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary is a wooded area located on the outskirts of Visakhapatnam and got its name after the neighborhood hillock Kambalakonda. It is a perfect example of natural harmony between the dry seasonal forest and evergreen meadows Spread across an area of around 71 square kilometers.

It has a wide variety of flora and fauna in their natural habitat. The sanctuary preserves many rare species of wildlife animals such as endangered Indian Leopard, panthers, barking deer, various species of Russell’s viper, Indian Cobra, Asian Paradise-flycatcher, Indian Muntjac, and various other animals.

10. Bheemili Beach

Bheemili beach is considered to be one of the most secure shorelines situated at the mouth of the Gosthani River. 11. Thotlakonda – Buddhist Excavation

Thotlakonda is a Buddhist site situated on a hill near Bheemili Town. It provides an insight into the process of transoceanic diffusion of Indic culture, especially Buddhism. Thotlakonda was a much influenced Kalinga region from where Buddhism was carried out to Sri Lanka and various other parts of South-East Asia.

The Thotlakonda complex is beautiful with magnificent structural design and has various Stupas, Viharas, and Chaityas. The eagle-shaped hilltop gives a panoramic view of the sea and the curved coastline.

1. Borra caves

The Borra Caves located on the Eastern Ghats in the Ananthagiri hills of Araku Valley in Visakhapatnam. Borra caves are deemed as one of India’s longest and deepest caves, extended up to the depth of 80m. This million-year-old wonder was discovered by the British geologist William King George in 1807.

2. Tatiguda Waterfalls – Ananthagiri Hill

Thatiguda waterfall is located in Ananthagiri at about 3 km from Borra caves. At 3100 feet above sea level, these falls which were hidden all these days have now become a really popular tourist destination in the district. Waterfalls from a series of descending rocks from a good height in several steps, making it a wonderful sight to behold.

This fascinating waterfall has towering rocks on one side and lush green fields on the other side. Another plus is that this is a perennial fall with water flowing in it all through the year.

    U Missed to Visit one of the nicest place near visakhapatnam its Machkund hydro power station, its 100 KM far from Araku and its very beautiful and coolest place. we can find the winch which is the carry traverla to power house from the hill top to botom of the hill.. this is one winch out of 2 winches we find in india. and one more place is Upper sileru and Lower sileru places between lambasingi to Badrachalam.
